How to Find Porn for Women and What It’s All About
How to find adult content that lights you up and turns you on.
First and foremost, I think it’s really important to specify- this article is about women. Written by a woman, for women. Changing the narrative about adult erotic content and the consumption of said content is an important part of lifting the handmaiden’s veil that has historically been placed over female sexuality. The reality of this article is that Porn for Women is really just porn. It’s about exploring niches that you might not be familiar with. Finding the type of pornography that works for you. And quite frankly- getting comfortable talking about it.
It is okay to watch porn by yourself, or with a partner. It’s okay to masturbate to it. It’s okay to explore the bounds of your own sexuality. Prod curiosities while poking at yourself. Okay, so that might be a terrible comparison- but, essentially, it’s perfectly alright to be a sexual being and a woman at the same time. No matter your age, steamy predilections, gender identity, or sexuality.
Women Like Porn Too
“Porn for women is just that. It’s porn that women watch.” Says a rep from Porndoe, a site dedicated to providing internet users with all sorts of different types of adult content. “I think some people get caught up with the idea that there is porn specific to women, where in fact, there’s actually just porn specific to people.” The guru’s of the site echo the sentiments of psychologists and researchers that suggest the human brain is more than just “Man Brain/Woman Brain”, but instead a colorful mosaic comprised of a number of different desires, wants, and turn-ons.
In 2018, a massive data collection of online porn use showed, possibly for the first time, that ladies love porn. Not only that- but that they also love kinky porn. Mainstream porn, soft-core, hard-core, Asian, gay, pregnant, and pretty much any type of porn that guys do. Shocked, not shocked- humans enjoy porn. And just like the multi-faceted genres that fill PornDoes company mission statement, there’s quite definitely erotica for every taste.
While the article suggested a few things that tended to apply in the majority to women, they found that there was no clear cut “Porn for Women”, or one genre in specific that women preferred to watch. What was suggested was that women are less likely to be turned on by porn that felt “inauthentic”, suggesting that this particular gender tends to pay more attention to what the performers are conveying, than what’s actually happening on screen. It also found that the heteronormativity of mainstream porn was problematic for a large portion of those surveyed- particularly cis-gendered, heterosexual women. With both heterosexual and homosexual women seemingly frustrated by the fact that mainstream porn seemed to focus more on the satisfaction and self-interest of male consumers.
Where to Find “Porn for Women”
This being clearly noted it should then come as no surprise that most women seemed to gravitate towards queer porn genres, particularly those of amateur status. Looking more for authenticity, and less for seeing a tiny woman being callously smashed like a whack-a-mole game or practically tripping over herself in order to satiate her undying need for the pizza delivery guy.
Finding porn that represents real people, with real desires, and real bodies seems to be one of the most defining factors for what encourages most women to tune in. Perhaps the best strategy for finding your particular brand of porn, however, is to just look. Taking the time to critically consider what types of sexual fantasies are the most enticing to you, and then just surfing google.
The truth is, there is no one place to find porn for women. Instead there are a number of websites and “tube” channels that can offer whatever type of audio and visual sexual gratification speaks to you. Which is another really important thing to consider- it doesn’t have to be visual. For some people, erotic audio stories can provide stimulation without assaulting the senses, which according to some might make erotic content easier to enjoy.
Some Suggestions From the Front Seat
Being both a lady and an avid consumer of adult erotica, I’d like to cordially invite all you other ladies to the driver’s seat. I’m not saying that you need to start unabashedly loading up PornDoe the next time you’re back in the office, but start taking your sexuality seriously, without apologizing for it.
Find out what it is that you’re into a feel free to further examine this in your own time. If you don’t actually like porn- don’t watch it. If you do- go with gusto, my friends. Explore different genres and appetites, consider the purchase of a toy or two. Try new things and create space for some sexy discussion with your partner, or partners. Be open and honest with yourself, and let that honesty bleed into creating some really beautiful boundaries. Finding the type of erotica that suits you best and exists between consenting and informed adults is what “porn for women” is all about. At the end of any given day, this is your own brand of sexuality, and frankly, it’s okay.
